How were the first language classes going?

Hello guys I’m Timo from Germany and an ESC Volunteer for Udruga Amazonas within the project Building an inclusive society  this year and my tasks are the language classes and article writing. So, you can look forward to getting provided with at least one interesting Article about Amazonas activity, EU opportunities and Special Days (e.g. Tolerance Day) written by me each month. I will start with telling you about the Language classes that started last week.

Last week me and one other volunteer started with our Language Classes for Amazonas Organisation. Noé from France was leading French classes on Tuesday (Online on Thursday) and Timo(me) the German Class on Monday (Wednesday online) and Conversational English Class on Tuesday at. So, you probably wonder how classes where like and what we did with our new language students, right?

Well, everything started with my German live class on Monday and even though we had some starting problems because of Mails not reaching the people but landing in their spam folder, we were happy to welcome at least some people for the first lesson. We started with a basic little introduction round and then proceeded to start with learning the basics of German language like the alphabet, numbers and basic useful Phrases of course learn process was slow at first, but students were really interested and motivated, so we managed to have 90 minutes of really productive teaching.

Noé started with French class in Tuesday evening where he directly started with some conversation topics as far as the French level of his students allowed. He practiced some  scenarios like ordering in a restaurant or talking to a cashier at the Supermarket. ‘My goal for French class is to mix my passion like art, culture and travel with a fun way to teach French Language.’ Noé states when talking about his expectations of French class. Thats why his students are really motivated and happy to have an inspiring teacher like him.

The third class we provided was Conversational English Class also on Tuesday evening at the same library as German on Monday. It was packed with many really interesting people that wanted to practise their English Language. English Class has a calm pace because it’s not really about teaching but just about practicing real conversations and discuss about important topics. We just started with an Introduction round and the 90 Minutes really felt like 10 and I learned many new things about Croatia as well, so I enjoyed it really much.

You can really say for all of our classes that they are really helpful for the students and we also have really motivated teachers that love what they do and like bringing they’re knowledge and culture near to the Croatian people. If you also would love to participate in one of the classes because you think you could benefit from it you can just apply here  since we still have some places left.

See you there 😉
