This year’s fourth edition of “Spring on Trešnjevka ”( new name Pokreni Se na Trešnjevci) brought together a diverse community eager to embrace movement, culture, and mindfulness. Hosted by the dynamic Udruga Amazonas, the event was a mix of activities designed to inspire and connect participants of all ages.
Capoeira for All Ages
Central to the event were the capoeira trainings, an Afro-Brazilian martial art that blends acrobatics, dance, and music. Tailored for five different age groups, these sessions ensured that everyone could experience capoeira:
- Capoeira for Children: Young participants were introduced to the basics of capoeira through playful and engaging exercises.
- Capoeira for Adults: Adults enjoyed a more intensive capoeira training, challenging their physical abilities and deepening their understanding.
- Capoeira for Children and Parents: One of the most heartwarming segments of the event, this session allowed families to bond through movement. Parents and children spent quality time together, learning and performing capoeira moves in a supportive and fun environment.
Cultural Exchange at the French and Spanish Café
Adding an international flavor to the event, participants joined us in to the French and Spanish Café. Here, young people had the unique opportunity to practice their language skills with native speakers:
- French Conversations with Theo: Theo, a dedicated volunteer, engaged participants in lively discussions, helping them improve their French in a relaxed, café-style setting.
- Spanish Conversations with Paula: Paula brought the vibrant spirit of Spain to the event, encouraging attendees to converse in Spanish and immerse themselves in Spanish culture.
In addition to language practice, the café featured traditional French and Spanish games, providing a fun and interactive way to learn about these cultures.
Mindfulness Workshop
Recognizing the need for relaxation and emotional well-being, this event also offered a unique workshop aimed at reducing everyday stress. This session utilized music as a powerful tool to achieve mindfulness, guiding participants through a journey of self-discovery and emotional release. Group conversations provided a safe space for individuals to explore their feelings and let go of pent-up emotions, leaving them refreshed and rejuvenated.
A Celebration of Community and Culture
“Pokreni Se na Trešnjevci” was more than just an event; it was a celebration of community, movement, and cultural exchange. It offered a unique platform for participants to learn new skills, connect with others, and explore different aspects of wellness. Whether through the rhythmic beats of capoeira, the friendly chatter of the French and Spanish Café, or the calming notes of the mindfulness workshop, every moment was designed to bring joy and enrichment to the community.
